Childcare Training
Staff Training
We have staff who have specialised expertise in certain area of the Early Years sector. This is continually enhanced and shared with the wider team. To achieve our aim of developing our workforce, we strongly believe that the learning never stops. We ensure the whole team is committed to continuous professional development. As a team we achieved regular updates in the core areas such as First Aid and Safeguarding, but for us the development extends much wider that the core updates.
We have training systems put in place to allow staff to achieve training and recognition in a wide range of training such as Food Allergy Awareness, Health and Safety in the Workplace, Let's create in a world of play, Maths and Literacy in Early Years and Medical Awareness.
Michelle and our SEND team continuously expand their knowledge on any SEND-related matter to ensure that we can meet all children’s needs. Michelle has completed a CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Children and Young People's Speech, language and communication.
Our INSET training days play an important part of this plan, allowing us the time to source and deliver high quality training that will have a positive impact on all the children and families here at The Olive Tree Nursery. We work closely with other agencies within the Early Years sector to ensure we source the best possible training from true experts. We have recently all completed Inclusive Communication training, previously known as Somerset Total Communication, this has enabled the entire team to enhance the multiple levels of communication for all children. This practise is recognised in a number of schools within Somerset and therefore aids smooth transitions to reception class.
The Management team at The Olive Tree Nursery work to identify at an early stage any enhanced training needs for individuals or the team. This may be training to support a child or family or a passion from the staff member allowing them to train and become confident within this specialist area.
